Did David really defeat Goliath with a sling and 5 stones? David just had a sling and 5 stones, but he had countless experiences of trusting God and witnessing God’s deliverance. David’s greatest strengths are his experiences of trusting God. With these experiences, David realized that the God who saved him from the lion or bear is also the God who can deliver him and the nation from Goliath. Trusting God has given him confidence that Goliath is an easier enemy for God to defeat and that God is capable of defeating enemies far stronger than Goliath. Trusting and depending on God is the only way to see God’s power at work.
Every act of God’s deliverance imparts a greater trust on God. Our life must be built on this imparted trust on God. We cannot defeat the Goliath who troubles our nation until the lion and bear that troubles our lives are killed by God’s power. The stones are the same and have no power, but God’s strength and power made all the difference. Perhaps the stones acted as bullets and struck Goliath. The most powerful person in the world is the one who trusts and leans on God and recognises how weak he is without God.
Trusting and leaning God are the avenues to yield God’s power. This generation is plagued by plague of unbelief where people have yet to use God’s power to slay a lion or a bear in their life, yet many Goliaths are challenging and defying God in our nation. Every field contains a Goliath, and God expects you to be the David (in your field) who brings down the Goliath who defies or dishonor’s God. Start trusting God in your daily life and seeing God’s power destroy the lions and bears in your life.
