Brokenness is not a sign of weakness, but it’s God’s method of preparing His people for His great purpose. Brokenness is a tool that God uses to prepare His people in the valley of wilderness. All saints greatly used by God have gone through this stage, and all budding saints must go through this stage. Brokenness is birthing stage of God’s plans.
Brokenness produces heart groanings or whispers without uttering words. For example – It can be like in 1 Samuel 1:13 where Hannah spoke in her heart, her lips moving but her voice not heard. She spoke in a way where she did not utter words but spoke through her heart groaning or whispers. She communicated by whispering or groaning via her heart instead of using words.
Brokenness can be due to our mistakes or God allowing it for his purposes. We are not sure of the underlying cause of the brokenness, but the end result when God steps in, it is used for accomplishing his great purposes. God can use the brokenness that leads to a state of nothingness and self-realization. God cannot use the brokenness that leads to more sin, depression and idleness (It’s not Goldy brokenness). Be careful to distinguish whether its Godly brokenness or not. It’s a terrible and dangerous situation to be in if it’s not Godly brokenness. Godly brokenness is a safe place to be whereas ungodly brokenness is a dangerous place.
