TS357 – When God Commands the Ravens

When God commanded the ravens to feed Elijah (1 Kings 17:4-6), something remarkable happened: God had to change the very nature of the raven. Ravens are scavengers. They feast on decaying carcasses, and they live to satisfy themselves (selfish nature). Yet at God’s word, a selfish bird became a giving one. A creature that ate decayed meat now carried good bread and meat.

God had to change raven’s selfish nature into a giving nature, from eating decayed food to eating good quality food, and from eating without a timetable to feeding Elijah in the morning and evening.

When God commands even the most scavenging, selfish bird, such as a raven, change their attitude to a giving attitude and follow a timetable, how much more so when He commands people? Even the most wicked or selfish people will change their ways to help us in our seasons of famine when God commands. His command does not merely change circumstances; it changes hearts and natures.

This is the assurance we carry into our own dark seasons. When God commands, we will be provided for, sometimes by those we would have considered wicked and dangerous.
