“Behold, God is great, and we know him not.” (Job 36:26)
We don’t know whether Elihu understood the full intensity or weight of these words when he spoke them. Yet this truth reaches far beyond his day. From the beginning of creation and through every generation since, this truth resonates: God is great, and we do not know Him. No one has really known How Great God Is till now. No one has ever fully measured His greatness.
God is so great and vast, that knowing Him could take millions of years. Each time we try to know him, we will realize that there is still so much more to know about him. Each time we reach toward Him, we find that we have only touched the edge of something infinite. The more we seek Him, the more we realize that there is still so much to know about him and how much remains undiscovered. Perhaps even eternity will not be long enough or sufficient to know God completely.
God is great, but I do not know Him. What I know is very little about him. There is still so much more to know about him. There is still so much more than my mind can hold or comprehend.
Do you know God? Can you confidently say that you know him? Do you know him or about him?
Before our journey on earth comes to an end, may each of us be able to answer with certainty: I know God.
