Now it came to pass the same night that the LORD said to him, “Take your father’s young bull, the second bull of seven years old, and tear down the altar of Baal that your father has, and cut down the wooden image that is beside it” Judges 6:25
The Lord told Gideon to tear or break down the altar of Baal and cut down the wooden image beside it. Gideon did it and they called him Jerubbaal. If they changed the name, it means that its a significant event. The Israelites feared Baal for many years.
However, Gideon broke down the altar of Baal, and by doing this he dispelled the fear of the god Baal. Gideon broke down the altar of God and also the fear of god Baal in the land. Gideon torn or broke down the fear caused by Baal. It was such a great victory.
Today, we also need to break down all the altars of fear in our lives (just like Gideon). We need to break down the altar of health & disease, altar of financial difficulties and so on. When we fear something, this fear opens a door for the enemy to enter and cause chaos in our life.
Israelites feared Baal so they were ruled by (or subjected under) Midianites for many years. What we fear, can open the door for the enemy to enter and cause chaos in our lives. Fear also leads to wastage of years, health and so on. Today ask God to reveal all the altars of fear and break down all of them. There is no faith or trust when there is fear. When there is no fear, we can walk in freedom and faith.
